- Resolution Life confirms the completion of the acquisition of 100% of its shares by Nippon Life
- The transaction will accelerate growth for both Resolution Life and Nippon Life in the highly active, multi-trillion-dollar global life and annuity consolidation sector

HAMILTON, BERMUDA - Resolution Life, a global life insurance group focusing on reinsurance and the acquisition and ongoing management of portfolios of life insurance policies, today confirmed the completion of its acquisition by Nippon Life Insurance Company (“Nippon Life”).
This follows the announcement in December 2024 that Nippon Life would be consolidating its ownership interest by acquiring the remaining shares from Resolution Life’s investment limited partnership.
Resolution Life’s Australasian business will be combined with Nippon Life Insurance Australia and New Zealand Limited to form Acenda Group. Acenda is a new primary life insurer open to new business and will be run as a joint venture between Nippon Life and Resolution Life.
Resolution Life and its Board will continue under the leadership of Sir Clive Cowdery as Chairman and CEO and Moses Ojeisekhoba as President. Three new directors have been appointed to the Board; Moses Ojeisekhoba, Betsy Ward and Shinsuke Hashizume. As part of the transaction, Gilles Dellaert, Michael Hovey and Ida Hoghooghi from Blackstone have resigned from the Board. The company thanks them for their contribution.
Resolution Life will continue its mission of being a global custodian to the life insurance and annuity industry by providing capital for growth, removing stranded costs and mitigating long-term risks so that the industry can continue to respond to the needs of policyholders.
Resolution Life is subject to group regulation by the Bermuda Monetary Authority and has a strong group capital position, high solvency ratios and investment grade ratings.
Biography – Moses Ojeisekhoba
Moses joined Resolution Life as President in October 2024. He is responsible for the leadership of the market-facing division driving strategy, growth, profitability, and value creation.
Moses is an accomplished insurance executive with over 30 years’ experience in the sector. Prior to joining Resolution Life, Moses spent over 12 years in multiple senior executive positions at Swiss Re. He was most recently CEO Global Clients & Solutions where amongst other things, he was responsible for managing relationships with some of Swiss Re’s key clients. Before this, he served as CEO Reinsurance and was instrumental in developing this division into its strong industry position today. Prior to this, he was CEO Reinsurance Asia and Regional President Asia and significantly grew its business in the region.
Prior to his roles at Swiss Re, Moses held a number of senior leadership positions at Chubb Group and Unico American Corporation.
Moses is a member of the Board of Directors of Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) and holds a master’s degree in Management from the London Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
Biography – Betsy Ward
With over 35 years in the insurance sector, Betsy brings extensive leadership and expertise. Betsy recently retired from MassMutual where most recently she was Chief Financial Officer, overseeing strategy and corporate development in addition to traditional financial areas. Her other roles within MassMutual included serving as Enterprise Chief Risk Officer, Chief Actuary, and also held various insurance portfolio management roles at the wholly owned investment subsidiary now called Barings.
Betsy is a member of the Board of Directors of The Hanover Group (THG), a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). She is also a Trustee on the board of the University of Rochester. Rochester, NY and the Community Music School of Springfield, MA.
Biography – Shinsuke Hashizume
Hashizume-san is the President and CEO of Nippon Life Americas, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Life Insurance Company.
He previously served as the General Manager of the Global Business Risk & Control Department of Nippon Life in Japan from 2022 to 2025.
He has been a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Japan since 2005. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
